Due to the closure of the pub, The Victoria will now be playing all their home fixtures from the Gardeners Rest (Hollins Rd) until further notice.

THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE HELD ON WED JULY 7th 2010 (8.30 PROMPT) AT THE WHITE HART.

The Victoria and The Wheatsheaf ‘B’ failed to attend the June meeting, and have been given a ‘Yellow Card’. Further non attendances will be punishable as per the league rules. Meetings are held on the first wednesday of each month.

At the May 2010 meeting it was agreed that we alter the rule regarding nominating after a foul break. The rule should now read:

Following a foul break, a player has two shots, and may play or any ball on the table including the black with his first shot. The player may pot any of those balls except the black (Loss of game), and then nominate his chosen colour group before his second shot. Either colour may be chosen, regardless of any balls he may have potted with his first shot.                                                                            Should the player mistakenly nominate on his first visit, the league would expect the referee to remind the player of the ruling, and allow him to nominate again on his second visit. Team captains are asked to advise all players of this rule change.

The Royal Oak and The Friendship failed to attend the May meeting, and have been given a ‘Yellow Card’. Further non attendances will be punishable as per the league rules. Meetings are held on the first wednesday of each month.

Welcome to our three new teams this season, and thanks to our existing teams for their continued support of the league. In the eighteen years or so that the league has been running, we have exceeded 16 teams on a couple of occasions, but a complement of 16 teams (See below) in this age is quite an achievement, and we hope that it is the friendliness of its members coupled with a sensible approach to the running of the league which makes the Hollins Pool League attractive.

I will endeavour to keep the site updated as much as possible, despite the editing software being the most irritating piece of crap since Jedward. If there is anything you feel the site is missing, please feel free to contact me. Where possible, League Tables will also appear in the Oldham Evening Chronicle, and if anyone has any clout with other local publications, then we will try to include the tables elsewhere.

Please be aware that The Victoria (Hollins Rd) have now taken the final sixteenth place in the league, after assuring us that they are willing and capable of completing all the fixtures. This will, of course mean that the first two fixtures they have missed will need to be caught up over the course of the season, and it is hoped that their opponents from those two fixtures will be understanding, and accomodate The Victoria at some reasonable date.
